Florida Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer a moderate Republican and close Crist ally will step down as Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. Greer was facing a vote of confidence Saturday in Orlando at the state GOP meeting.
"I cannot be a participant in the shredding and tearing in the fabric of the Republican Party", Greer said in announcing his decision.
Republican activists in Florida have been upset with Greer over everything from his support of Crist in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate to his fund raising efforts.
State Senator John Thrasher, a Jacksonville Republican and strong Jeb Bush ally is slated to become the next Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida.

Republicans are willing to do anything to purify the party. They will continue to push moderates out as there doing in the Crist-Rubio primary in Florida and as they did with Hoffman in upstate NY even if it means losing the general election.
