Supported Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic Presidential primary? Well former President Bill Clinton doesn't forget. Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley was one of Hillary's supporters in the primary and over the weekend, former President Clinton rewarded the loyalty by endorsing Coakley for the U.S. Senate. Clinton is also strongly supporting Congressman Kendrick Meek who is running for the U.S. Senate in Florida. Meek was a strong Hillary supporter and his mother, former Congresswoman Carrie Meek, is a longtime Clinton supporter and friend.
Coakley leads Michael Capuano by about 7-8% and will most likely win the Democratic primary tonight. Coakley has strong statewide name ID, plenty of money and now the former President behind her. I support Capuano because he is a progressive Democrat but I have no real problem with Coakley.
Coakley like myself, opposes the President's plan to increase troops in Afghanistan. I agree with Coakley that Karzi is not a trustworthy partner and could not agree more that it is time to bring our troops home.
Again I like Capuano and if I lived in Massachusetts, he would be my choice today but I think Coakley will be a great Senator and watch her in 2016.
