Senator Lindsey Graham is not a right wing Republican. Graham was a member of the Gang of 14 that forged a compromise which brought a halt to the continued blockage of an up or down vote on judicial nominees. Graham has opposed tort reform bills in the Senate and he worked with the late Senator Kennedy on immigration reform. Graham supports the Healthy Americans Act which is being introduced by Senator's Wyden and Bennett and would create a universal health care system funded with private and public dollars.
Given this, it should be no surprise that a Public Policy Polling Survey in South Carolina finds that Graham "has more crossover appeal that almost any other U.S. Senator in the country. He's also one of the least popular Senator's within his own party.", according to Political Wire.
If Graham can continue to survive Republican primary elections, he should be able to hold onto this seat for decades.
