Here's some commentary. Joe Sestak the Congressman everyone supported in 2006 and viewed as someone who could have an influential future in the Democratic party is running against Arlen Specter for the Democratic nomination for Senate. Problem is, Sestak is getting nasty, very nasty, to the point of being despicable.
Sestak made the decision earlier this year to challenge Specter for the Democratic nomination for the Senate, fine, Specter is my candidate but Sestak has the right to challenge him. However Sestak trying to tie Specter to former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is over the top. Sestak has released a web video called "Going Rogue" which accuses Specter of campaigning hard for Palin during the 2008 Presidential campaign.
Let's clear the air. First off, Specter wasn't campaigning hard for Palin, he was campaigning for John McCain. McCain up until the 2008 election had been a fairly moderate Republican Senator and had a good working relationship with Specter. Secondly, comparing Specter to Palin is completely ludicrous. Palin is a right wing nut job who is taken seriously by the religious right wing and thats it. Specter on the other hand has long been a supporter of abortion rights, the environment, stem cell research and has proved to be a moderate in the Senate. As the Republican party has moved further to the left, Specter found himself more comfortable as a Democrat, he was a Democrat until 1965.
For Congressman Sestak to attempt to compare Arlen Specter to Sarah Palin just shows how desperate he is. Arlen Specter is no Sarah Palin. Arlen Specter is a well respected member of the Senate who deep down has no use for the neocons or evelengical right wing. Pennsylvania should condemn the type of campaign Sestak is running and get behind Specter who has served in the Senate since 1980.

When has the Republican party "moved further to the left"?
Have I been asleep in a cave in Outer Mongolia for the past 50 years?
Moving to the "left" was obviously a typo. What was intended was moving to the "right" Thanks for pointing it out.
left was a typo. It's been a long week work and I was obviously very tired when I typed this entry. I meant moving to the RIGHT. It's the party of right wing nutjobs and good for Specter for leaving them!
