It's time for Wolfowitz to resign

The scandal at the World Bank surrounding World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz is beginning to unfold as Monday Wolfowitz's top aide resigned. Kevin Kellems, director of strategy and a close advisor to Wolfowitz released a statement saying, "Given the current environment surrounding the leadership of the World Bank Group, it is very difficult to be effective in helping to advance the mission of the institution". Kellems worked for Wolfowitz in the Defense Department and at the World Bank was primarly responsible for the image of Wolfowitz which lately I imagine had to be a nightmare.

Wolfowitz says he didn't act improperly when he obtained a $200,000 pay package for his partner, Shaha Riza, however a World Bank panel investigating the matter disagrees. The panel found that Wolfowitz broke bank rules with the lucrative pay package.

The Europen Parliament, many staff members of the bank, former bank officials and others have called on Wolfowitz to resign. They claim this has hurt the bank's image and could hurt it's ability to raise billions of dollars to provide aid to poor countries.

Despite all of this, the President back's his man.
